Fun Fact: My teaching career began in room 15 at Richard Henry Dana Middle School where I substitute taught in my father-in-law's U.S. History class. After earning my credential, I returned to Dana Middle School, and room 15, to teach 7th grade English and ELD 2.
Background Information
My heart will always be in the middle schools, but I have experience working with grades 6-12.
My content area focus is ELA and ELD, so I have great strategies to support all content area teachers in scaffolding for their EL students and integrating writing into all content areas.
All growth is a leap in the dark, a spontaneous unpremeditated act without benefit of experience. -Henry Miller
Teaching Philosophies I believe...
two heads (or more) are better than one.
all students can learn and want to learn. It's an educator's job to find the connection point to provide meaningful (and fun) learning experiences that engage students.
in making curriculum relevant to the real world, so students have experiences in the classroom that will prepare them to be successful in their life.
in educating the whole child by giving them opportunities to express their ideas and learning in multiple ways.
